Kia ora,
What a great term of sports it has been here at Torbay! Ka pai to all of our tamariki for getting out there and playing sports. A big thank you to all of our coaches, managers and volunteers. All of your time and effort you put in is always greatly appreciated. Special mention to all the parents & caregivers who facilitate getting your children to their practices and games each week too!
Netball: The wet and cold mornings at Pinehurst haven’t stopped our netball teams. It has been great to see so many of our students on the court in action and enjoying themselves. Well done to our NNH teams who participated in a Year 6 field day last week. A special mention to our NNH Torbay 6/1 team who have qualified for Grade 1 in the competition and to our NNH Torbay 6/2 for finishing their grading undefeated. Good luck to all of our teams in their last round of games before the school holidays. Kidzplay will be restarting on July 30th. NNH will be returning on July 27th.
Splash Polo: Well done to all of our flippa ball and splash polo players on a great term in the pool. Splash polo will be returning next term. Keep an eye out for registrations very soon.
Rippa Rugby: Ka pai to all 100 of our tamariki who went to the rippa rugby festival at Windsor Park! It was great to see all of you running, diving, and getting muddy. Round 2 of rippa rugby will be returning to Windsor Park on the 11th of August. Rippa rugby training will start up again in week 1 of term 3.
Hockey: Ka pai to all of our hockey teams on a great term of hockey! Keep up the great work. Hockey will be back in action next term. Games resume on July 25th.
Basketball: This term Torbay School hosted their very own basketball league for Year 5 & 6 as the East Coast Bays Leisure Centre was under renovations. It has been great to see so many of our students battle against each other. Congratulations to the Torbay Grizzlies for narrowly beating the Torbay Bucks in the final. Well done to our year 1, 2, 3, and 4 basketball teams for keeping up their basketball skills. Basketball will be returning to the East Coast Bays Leisure Centre next term. Registrations will be out very soon.
Cross Country: This term we see all of our students run their cross country race. We also had our select senior students race at interschools. Ka pai to all of our students in trying their best and showing resilience when challenged. Below you will find our results.
